EFFECT OF CORONA VIRUS  IN ITALY AN DEATH TILL NOW

Sky News announced, citing the Italian Civil Protection Agency, that at least 475 additional people died of coronavirus in Italy Wednesday, marking a 19 per cent increase over the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to at least 2,978. It's the biggest single-day increase in the country's death toll since the coronavirus outbreak began. There are at least 35,713 total cases in Italy, which was also confirmed Wednesday by the country's health ministry.

There are 14,363 patients with symptoms hospitalized, with 2,257 in intensive care, while 12,090 are in isolation at home. According to Johns Hopkins University, Italy's death toll is similar to that of China, where at least 3,122 people have died since the novel COVID-19 was first published in the city of Wuhan in the province of Hubei late December. Last week, the World Health Organization called Europe the latest coronavirus pandemic epicentre-and Italy is the worst-hit nation outside China. Italy has been under a national lockdown since March 9 intended to help curb the spread of the virus by essentially shutting down most public-life aspects.

Italy has entered the second week of the lockdown on Tuesday by introducing new measures requiring Italians to fill out a self-declaration form issued by the police before going outside. Residents must state who they are, where and for what reason they plan to go. The form also allows residents to report that Tuesday the European Union declared it was closing its borders for its 26 member states as well as for Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, banning travel from the bloc for 30 days, the BBC said. This came the same day, as part of an attempt to curb the spread of infection, France declared a nationwide lockout, following the example of Italy and Spain.they have not checked COVID-19 positively, and are not actively engaged in a 14-day quarantine.
