Belle told radio host Kyle Sandilands how she met Kanye at The Ivy, a well-known nightclub in Sydney, and was invited to party with the famous rapper. She recalled being excited and slightly nervous at the time, reminiscing about the early days of Kanye's career when he was sporting his iconic shutter shades, a style he popularized around 2007.

The event likely took place sometime around Kanye's "The Touch the Sky" tour in late 2006 when he traveled to Australia in support of his second album, *Late Registration*. Belle couldn't remember the exact year but pinpointed it as Kanye’s era of wearing "Venetian glasses"—a reference to the distinctive slatted shades that he wore in the "Stronger" music video, which became symbolic of his style. At the time, Kanye was known for his smooth charm and interest in mingling with fans. According to Belle, he had approached her and her friends, persistently asking what they were planning to do after the party, showing an interest in spending more time with her.

Belle shared her memories of that night at The Ivy, a popular venue owned by billionaire Justin Hemmes, where international stars often visited during its heyday in the mid-2000s. The Ivy was known as a glamorous hotspot for celebrities and high-profile figures, and Kanye’s presence added to the club’s prestige. Sandilands humorously asked Belle if she remembered Kanye’s breath, a likely nod to the rapper’s titanium veneers, which have been rumored to cause halitosis. Belle couldn’t recall any specific details on that front, but she did note that Kanye was shorter than she had expected—standing at around 5’8”—and she found herself a little starstruck by his presence.

Despite Kanye's attention and his repeated invitations to join him after the club, Belle ultimately chose to stay with her friends, resisting the allure of following him for an extended night out. Reflecting on her decision, Belle laughed, exclaiming, “I could have been the next Kim!” referencing Kim Kardashian, who went on to marry Kanye and become an international sensation as his spouse. Kanye and Kim later had four children together before their divorce in 2022. Kanye subsequently married Bianca Censori, an Australian employee of his Yeezy brand, the same year.

Belle’s story surfaced amid recent reports about The Ivy’s Level 6 bar, which allegedly fostered a questionable environment for its employees, many of whom were young women working as "hosts." According to reports, these hosts, often handpicked and ranging in age from 18 to 21, were frequently tasked with entertaining high-paying clients. Staff members shared troubling accounts, alleging that they were under pressure to interact closely with the male clientele, who would sometimes lavish them with luxury items such as Gucci handbags and tips reaching up to $600 over a few nights.

One unnamed employee recounted to Nine newspapers that hosts were explicitly instructed not to refuse a drink if a guest offered, creating an environment that made it difficult for employees to set boundaries. Another staff member alleged that when senior management staff at Merivale—the company that owns The Ivy—were in attendance, often under the influence of alcohol or drugs, hosts felt compelled to partake in drinking as well, finding it challenging to refuse. These accounts describe an environment where boundaries were blurred, leading to an atmosphere that reportedly bordered on exploitative.

A spokesperson for Merivale, which runs the popular Ivy venue, responded to the claims, asserting that the company took these allegations “extremely seriously.” However, they stated that there were no recorded complaints matching these specific allegations. Belle’s account sheds light on a bygone era of Sydney nightlife, where venues like The Ivy were known for hosting celebrities and wealthy guests, creating memories and stories that endure even years later. As Belle looks back with a sense of amusement and nostalgia, she wonders what might have been if she’d accepted Kanye’s invitation that night. Whether she could have truly become “the next Kim Kardashian” is anyone’s guess, but her story paints a vivid picture of the early days of Kanye’s rise to fame and the allure of Sydney’s club scene at its peak.
