Kim Kardashian faced backlash from fans on Tuesday for allegedly trying to upstage her daughter North West by copying her Lion King costume for a new photoshoot.
The 43-year-old reality TV star sparked controversy when she posted photos of herself in a furry yellow coat and an oversized trapper hat, which closely resembled the costume her 10-year-old daughter wore while performing as Simba at the Hollywood Bowl in May.
North, whom Kim shares with her ex-husband Kanye West, played young Simba in a live musical version of The Lion King. The show featured some of the original stars, including Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, and Ernie Sabella. Kim had shared footage of herself and her younger daughter Chicago singing along during North's performance.
Fans accused Kim of trying to steal North's spotlight by posing in a similar costume. "You couldn't let your daughter have a moment; you had to wear it too," wrote one upset user. Another commented, "Why can't she ever let anyone have their moment? Always wants to outdo the original."
Some joked that North's role must have made Kim want a part in The Lion King too, while others speculated that North's performance was merely a promotional stunt. One particularly annoyed fan suggested Kim's mindset might have been, "Let's make it about me."
North's rendition of "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" went viral, with social media users mocking her performance and calling her an undeserving "nepo baby." Some accused Kim of setting up the performance for business reasons, with one user writing, "So you didn't care that your daughter couldn't sing; this was just business, I assume."

One fan claimed Kim felt entitled to upstage her daughter because she allegedly "bought the stage." Another sarcastic commenter blamed Kim for "ruining The Lion King" by involving North in the live performance. Some fans found the controversy comical, with one troll writing, "Okay but her wearing this after her daughter completely butchered the role of young Simba is just hilarious."

In her latest photoshoot, Kim wore a skintight pale yellow bodysuit, contrasting with the baggier outfit North wore. Kim accessorized with a matching furry yellow handbag, a large trapper hat, and furry leg warmers. She also posed in variations of the outfit, including a large yellow fur coat and a shorter jacket revealing her legs in white stockings. Kim's outfit bore a resemblance to an animal print look worn by Kanye West's current wife, Bianca Censori, during a photoshoot in January.
