Sources disclosed that North did not have to compete for the part, which resulted from her family's connections with Fulwell 73 Productions, the company behind both The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl and The Kardashians. Gabe Turner, a partner in Fulwell, also served as the creative showrunner for The Lion King concert. "This was a sure thing for North. She was told that if she could carry a note, the gig was hers," an insider revealed. The decision to cast North was also influenced by her potential to generate publicity.
