Critics accuse the reality star of contributing to the fast fashion industry's harmful practices with her brand Khy, which features dresses, tops, skirts, and pants made entirely from synthetic fibers derived from fossil fuels. Out of the 38 items in the recent collection, all are constructed from synthetic fabrics such as spandex, nylon, and polyester, while the brand also offers a range of faux leather products made from Polyurethane (PU) leather – a plastic-based material.

Despite being labeled as "vegan leather," these products are criticized for their lack of durability, tendency to crack, and short lifespan. While Kylie was previously commended by PETA for her brand's use of cruelty-free materials, including faux leather, environmental activists argue that the plastic component undermines any eco-friendly claims. Emma Hakansson, founder of Collective Fashion Justice, condemns Kylie's brand for perpetuating overproduction and consumption, emphasizing the need for garments that are sustainably made and built to last.

While Kylie's cosmetics line has shifted towards cruelty-free and vegan products, Khy's environmental commitments remain unclear, prompting criticism from sustainability advocates.

Similar concerns are raised about Kim Kardashian's SKIMS brand, which has been rated poorly by environmental group Good On You for its lack of transparency regarding its supply chain and environmental impact. Gordon Renouf, CEO of Good On You, emphasizes the importance of brands being transparent about their practices and impacts on various issues, including resource use, greenhouse gas emissions, and working conditions.

Emma Hakansson stresses the Kardashians' responsibility to prioritize sustainability over profit, urging them to ensure their fashion ventures align with efforts to protect people, animals, and the planet.
