Khloe Kardashian initially gave her son, Tatum, the legal surname Kardashian when he was born but later had a change of heart and decided to change it to Thompson, according to TMZ.

The exact first name that Tatum had initially was not confirmed by the site. At the time of Tatum's birth via surrogate, Khloe's relationship with Tristan Thompson, Tatum's cheating father, was strained, as widely reported. It was revealed that Tristan got another woman, Maralee Nichols, pregnant after Khloe and Tristan had already decided to use a surrogate to carry Tatum.
Recently, Khloe opened up about her difficulty in connecting with her newborn son, Tatum, three months after his birth via surrogate. She discussed her struggles on Hulu's show "The Kardashians." While her sisters Kim, Kourtney, and Kendall were busy with their own engagements, Khloe found herself back home in Los Angeles, taking care of Tatum. In the third episode of Season 3, titled "Everything Is My Fault!", Khloe's mother, Kris Jenner, paid her a visit.

Khloe expressed that she was comparing her experience with Tatum to her connection with her daughter, True. With True, it took her only a couple of days to feel a strong bond, but with Tatum, it was taking her months. Although she loved Tatum and children in general, she acknowledged that the complete bond was still developing. Kris consoled Khloe, reminding her that she had been through a lot and that she needed to give herself credit and not be too critical.

Khloe recognized that she was often kind to others but not to herself. She also mentioned that being a mom was a magical experience. Kris asked to hold Tatum, and as she did, he started crying. Kris pointed out how Khloe instantly reacted, showing her strong connection as a mother.
In another conversation, Kris inquired about Khloe's relationship with Tristan. Khloe responded that they always got along well and maintained a great friendship. She stated that for the sake of her kids, she put any personal issues aside. Khloe clarified that she wasn't holding onto anything and didn't feel the need to punish Tristan since they were not getting back together.
