In this movie, Ajay Devgn plays the character of Tanaji Malusare and he is the Subedar in the army of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Kajol plays the role of his wife as the character of Savitribai Malusare and the main villain of the movie is Saif Ali Khan played the role of  Rajput fort keeper of Udaybhan Rathod.
