Critics quickly likened the look to the powdered periwigs worn by America’s Founding Fathers, such as Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. "What in the constitution is going on here?" one follower wrote, while another added, "It's giving... founding fathers."

Another commenter posted, "She getting ready to write the Declaration of Independence." A reference to Kim's bar exam studies emerged as well, with one user quipping, "Did you steal a judge's wig from law school?"  The relentless trolls also compared her hairstyle to objects like a picnic basket and fictional characters such as Elsa from Frozen and Queen Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.

This isn't the first time Kim has faced backlash for her braids. In 2020, she was accused of cultural appropriation after sporting a tight braided hairdo at her then-husband Kanye West's Paris Fashion Week show. Kim, who is half Armenian, faced criticism on Twitter for allegedly appropriating Black culture. She previously defended herself against backlash in 2018 when she sported what she called "Bo Derek" braids.

Despite the criticism, a number of her followers defended her, arguing that the backlash was overblown. One wrote, "What’s the problem with Kim Kardashian having braids? Stop making nothing into something." Others chimed in with supportive comments like, "I actually like Kim’s braids lol" and "You look so good with braids!!!! Haters gonna hate."
