Kim enjoyed shopping at Erewhon with an unknown female friend while sipping on a smoothie. She caught attention with a bright yellow fluffy shoulder bag and flashed a smile as she headed to her car. On Thursday, Kim took a significant step in her business venture by opening her first permanent SKIMS store in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.
The reality star, who recently shared stories about her daughter North's "ridiculous dances" on TikTok, invited shoppers to her brand's standalone store. She announced the store's grand opening on Instagram, giving her 362 million followers a peek at the interior. According to WWD, SKIMS plans to open four more brick-and-mortar locations in Aventura, Florida; Austin and Houston, Texas; and Atlanta, Georgia. The store features a minimalistic design with a nude theme and campaign images of Kim and other models wearing SKIMS shapewear.

SKIMS focuses on body positivity and inclusivity, offering a wide range of sizes. In a 2020 interview with Bazaar, Kim discussed her inspiration for starting the company. She explained that she wanted seamless shapewear without visible seams, prioritizing both comfort and glamour. "I always think you can do it all, so why not have everything that you need as far as your products?" she said.
