These transparent shoes, available in various styles from ballet flats to sneakers to loafers, made their debut from designer brands like Khaite and ALAÏA in the latter half of 2023, starting at $750. The trend exposes the wearer's toes and entire foot, reminiscent of something straight out of Cher's wardrobe in the movie Clueless or Sabrina The Teenage Witch from the 1990s.

Similarly, when high-end label Loeffler Randall flaunted their mesh shoes on Instagram, they were met with humorous comments suggesting they were designed by individuals with foot fetishes.
