Kim Kardashian and the Kardashian-Jenner clan helped Disney score a significant ratings win with the premiere episode of season five of their reality series.

"The Kardashians" boasted the best ratings for an unscripted premiere episode of 2024 across Disney's streaming services, including Hulu in the US, and Disney+ and Star+ internationally, as reported by Deadline on Thursday.

Premiering on May 23, season five garnered 3.9 million views globally within its first four days, according to Disney. The show not only excelled among unscripted content but also stood out in overall entertainment ratings. Deadline noted that the season five premiere currently holds the second highest-rated premiere episode of the year, with only "Shogun" outperforming it.

The surge in viewership is not limited to the latest season. Disney reported that the audience for the first season tripled following the season five premiere, indicating that viewers are catching up on missed episodes or familiarizing themselves with the family's recent backstory. Additionally, seasons two through four saw viewership increases ranging from 99 to 187 percent after the latest season's debut.

"The Kardashians," now in its fifth season on Hulu, marks the family's second flagship reality series following "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," which began in 2007. This shift to Disney-owned streaming platforms brought higher budgets and improved production values, including a more sophisticated score and film-like cinematography.

The show continues to document key moments in the family's lives, such as Kim's divorce from Kanye West, her relationship with Pete Davidson, Kourtney's romance and marriage to Travis Barker, and the births of new family members like Khloé's son Tatum with Tristan Thompson and Kylie's son Aire with Travis Scott. Kim and her sisters—Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie—as well as their mother Kris, all serve as executive producers on "The Kardashians," further solidifying their influence and involvement in the series.
