This revelation comes after he allegedly missed payments spanning five months. Thompson, known for his tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers, shares a child named Theo with fitness influencer Maralee Nichols. Despite the child's age of two years, Tristan has reportedly not met him yet. Their relationship became public knowledge when Nichols pursued legal action against Thompson for child support, resulting in a court order mandating him to pay $9,500 monthly.
Recent court filings from the Los Angeles Superior Court indicate that Thompson neglected his financial obligations between September 15, 2023, and January 31, 2024. The court subsequently ruled for him to compensate the owed amount. However, it remains unclear whether he has fulfilled this payment, as attempts to reach his legal representation have gone unanswered. Likewise, Maralee Nichols' representative has not responded to requests for comment.
Thompson's financial predicament arises amidst a tumultuous period in his professional and personal life. Earlier, he faced a suspension of 25 games without pay from the NBA for violating the league's anti-drug regulations. Despite expressing disappointment, his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, pledged support throughout his suspension period.
Moreover, Tristan Thompson encountered personal challenges following the untimely passing of his mother, Andrea, from a heart attack in January 2023. Additionally, he was appointed as the legal guardian of his disabled younger brother, Amari, who suffers from severe epilepsy.
The issue of child support is not new to Thompson, as he was previously ordered to pay for his eldest child, Prince, from his relationship with ex-partner Jordan Craig. Reports suggest he owed significant amounts in arrears for child support payments.
