Jordan Craig, the mother of Tristan Thompson's six-year-old son, has taken legal steps to reinforce her rights to the substantial $40,000-a-month child support payment that the NBA star has been providing. This move aims to ensure the stability of the financial arrangement, as Tristan's earnings have seen a significant decline in recent years.

In an unexpected development, on August 9, Jordan Craig filed an 'abstract of judgment' in Los Angeles. This document is typically used to establish a public record in case a debt, in this instance, the child support payment, is not fulfilled. It's important to note that there is no indication that Tristan Thompson has failed to meet his monthly obligations to Jordan Craig.

The original child support agreement was established in 2019 when Tristan, then 32 years old, was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, earning an annual salary of $17.7 million. However, since then, his family has expanded, with three additional children by two different women, and his annual salary has decreased to $9.2 million.

Tristan's relationship with Jordan Craig dates back to 2014, but their two-year romance came to an end when he became involved with Khloe Kardashian. During this period, Jordan was pregnant with their son, Prince, and court documents indicate that she was still romantically involved with Tristan when he began dating Khloe in 2016.

Currently, Tristan Thompson shares two children with Khloe Kardashian: a five-year-old daughter, True, and a one-year-old son, Tatum, who was conceived through IVF in November 2021, shortly before the birth of his third child with fitness model Maralee Nichols. This baby boy, named Theo, was born in December 2021.

Reports suggest that Tristan has been paying approximately $120,000 in total monthly child support for all three of his children. In 2022, he faced a protracted paternity battle with Maralee Nichols to establish whether he was Theo's biological father. Nichols also filed a lawsuit against Thompson, alleging that he had offered her $75,000 in exchange for her silence.

In January 2022, Tristan confirmed his paternity following a DNA test and publicly apologized to Khloe through social media. The case was settled in December of that year, with Tristan agreeing to pay $9,500 a month in child support, and Nichols was granted sole custody. Additionally, he contributed to Nichols's legal fees during their settlement negotiations and was officially recognized as Theo's father on the birth certificate.

At the time of the settlement, Tristan Thompson was not under contract with any NBA team and was not earning income. In April of the same year, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, seemingly to be closer to Khloe, with whom he first began dating in 2017 when Jordan Craig was still pregnant with their son, Prince.

It's worth noting that, as part of their 2019 settlement, Tristan was required to pay $50,000 for Jordan Craig's attorneys' fees. This legal action appears to be Jordan's proactive measure to ensure the continued financial support necessary for the upbringing and well-being of her child amid Tristan's evolving career and expanding family.
