In a time when it feels like every celebrity under the sun is launching their own beauty line, Kendall Jenner has taken a different route. In July, she took on the role of L’Oréal's newest global ambassador. Instead of venturing into creating her own beauty products, she chose to partner with a 114-year-old brand. When asked about this decision, Jenner explained, "I love wearing makeup, playing around with it, and learning from makeup artists on set, but I never really saw myself being in a lab creating products.

I think I'll leave that to the pros who know what they're doing and have a passion for it—like my sisters." (For those not familiar with her family, Jenner's siblings include Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, who have collectively made significant contributions to the cosmetics industry, with a combined value well over a billion dollars.) Jenner's journey into the spotlight began when she was just 11 years old, making her the second-youngest member of the world's most famous family. In the early seasons of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," she displayed little interest in primping for the TV crew.

However, modeling seemed to come to her effortlessly. At the age of 15, she made her debut on the runway for designer Sherri Hill, known for her prom and homecoming-friendly styles. Jenner's tweet after the experience, tagged with #imaddictedtorunway, indicated her budding passion for modeling. Her real breakthrough in the high fashion world occurred three years later when she walked the runway for Marc Jacobs' fall 2014 show. With confidence, she sported an auburn bob and bleached eyebrows, wearing a sheer, nipple-baring knit tucked into cropped jodhpur pants. She looked like she had been doing it her entire life. In the nine years that followed, she has built one of the most successful modeling careers in history, embodying the creative visions of renowned designers from Miuccia Prada to the late Karl Lagerfeld. Securing a legacy beauty contract is the crowning achievement in her meticulously cultivated career.

Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time to flex her entrepreneurial muscles. In 2021, she ventured into the world of spirits, founding a small-batch tequila brand called 818. In just seven months, it sold an impressive 136,000 cases (equivalent to 1.5 million bottles) and has continued to grow steadily. Juggling multiple endeavors presents its challenges, but she relishes the effort it takes to stay at the top. She shares, "I've learned to be a leader, and to recognize that my energy affects everybody else's energy. It's about keeping it positive, uplifting, and really driven. I want everybody to feel inspired at all times, so I've been learning how to play that role and be that person for the whole team."

Entrepreneurship appears to be in her genes. Her mother, Kris Jenner, is renowned as one of the fiercest dealmakers in the contemporary business world. Jenner acknowledges her family's strong entrepreneurial legacy, stating, "I come from a long line of businesswomen—even my grandmother and my great-grandmother had their own businesses. I watched them when I was very, very young, and I watched my mom find her way. She never went through any sort of training to do the things that she did. She just bossed it out." However, if her idols serve as any indication, Kendall Jenner has no intention of abandoning the catwalk for the boardroom anytime soon. She points to Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford as her inspirations, admiring how they have gracefully navigated their careers with poise and have aged gracefully. She aspires to model her career after theirs, pun intended.
