Kim Kardashian is one of many celebs who are trying to shed light on the conflict with Azerbaijan over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and help the innocent victims.
The beauty mogul Kim Kardashian, 39, has donated $1 million to support the innocent people of Armenia who has been the victim of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. Kim has teamed up with an organization and has been helping shed light on the matter and collect funds under the name, Armenians Fund. Kim and her family have a separate place in their heart for Armenia as Kris Jenner's first husband, Robert Kardashian was an Armenian descendent.
I’m so honored to be part of today’s global effort to support the @ArmeniaFund. I’ve been speaking out about the current situation in Armenia and Artsakh and having conversations with so many others to bring further awareness to the crisis that we cannot allow to advance. pic.twitter.com/SqkzNHhI8T

“I’ve been speaking out about the current situation in Armenia and Artsakh and having conversations with so many others to bring further awareness to the crisis that we cannot allow to advance,” Kim said in a brief video. “My thoughts and prayers are with the brave men, women, and children. I want everyone to be aware that, despite the distance that separates us, we are not limited by borders. We are one global, Armenian nation together.”
Kim also explained where the money from the funds will be used. “Armenia Fund is directly helping those who have been impacted during this critical time with humanitarian aid – from food, shelter, and medical care,” she said. “I will be donating $1 million to assist their efforts on the ground and invite you to join me.”
Besides Kim, Elton John and Travis Barker are also among them who want peace and not war in Armenia. Other Armenian-Americans like Cher and Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian also tweeted about the conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and according to BBC News, the region has seen nearly 500 people killed.
Nagorno-Karabakh (aka Artsakh)is located at the heart of the conflict. Artsakh is internationally a part of Azerbaijan but it is ruled by ethnic Armenians, which is why there has been a long conflict between the two regions. The countries fought over it in the war which began in the late 1980s. The war ended after a long time in 1994, but not with a treaty.
In their latest fighting, the civilian territories have been turned into a war zone as it's being bombed and targeted with rockets. Meanwhile, Armenians are accusing Turkey of getting involved in the conflict as the Armenian defense minister claimed that a Turkish F-16 jet shot on an Armenian warplane on Sept. 29, as reported by the BBC News. Though Turkey has been accused, they have denied getting involved.
“We need a House Resolution condemning these unprovoked attacks on #Armenians in #Artsakh by Azerbaijan with assistance from Turkey,” Ohanian wrote in the caption section for an Instagram post on Oct. 3. “What they want is ethnic cleansing.”
Kim updated on the news on Oct. 12, on Twitter with footage of tens of thousands of people peacefully marching in Los Angeles street showing their support towards Armenia. The march took place a day earlier prior to her post, was demonstrated outside the Turkish consulate in Beverly Hills. “So powerful,” Kim tweeted.
