Kanye West threw some shade at Taylor Swift during his latest Twitter rant where he hinted that his music is much more worth than $300 million, that Scooter Braun paid for Taylor’s masterpieces.

Did Kanye West diss Taylor Swift? “My kids gonna own my masters,” Kanye West tweeted on Sept. 15, only hours after he demanded to “see everybody’s contracts at Universal [Music Group] and Sony.” The 43 years old rapper wanted to make it good on the promise of ownership rights to his music completely. Ye later share a screenshot of a text conversation with someone where the price tag of his discography was discussed and it contained low-key diss at Taylor. “[Regarding] masters ownership, we can look into buying. But if Taylor’s cost $300 million, yours would cost a lot more, I assume.”

Seeing the screenshot of the message, it appears that Kanye didn't mean to bring Taylor into it but, sharing the text message made it much worst. The name of the person who sent the message isn't disclosed but the person has said Ye that “re-recording these songs” would be cheaper and he “could own these new masters outright.” Then the person suggested forming a new “Yeezy Media/Universal joint venture,” he said that he's “not open to any form of business with Universal or Sony.”

According to the information we got from Kanye's tweet, it seems like there's a legal storm brewing between them him, Universal Music Group, and EMI. In the tweet which was later deleted, he said that he's “not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal.” The rapper then tweeted, “Vivendi family I’m in Calabasas,” referring to the French media conglomerate that owns Universal.

“I need to see everybody’s contracts at Universal and Sony,” Kanye tweeted. “I’m not gonna watch my people be enslaved. I’m putting my life on the line for my people. The music industry and the NBA are modern day slave ships. I’m the new Moses.” Kanye also demanded a public apology from Drake, J. Cole, and Jay-Z in his series of rants.

According to Rolling Stone, in 2019, Kanye sued EMI and Universal to get out of their contract when he was working on 2004’s The College Dropout. Ye and EMI have reportedly settled the lawsuit with an undisclosed amount of money. Kanye had posted many videos back in 2018, claiming that Sony/ATV shot down his attempts to buy his publishing back. "'It’s $8 million [or] $9 million’ and when I went to buy it, they told me ‘No,’ I couldn’t buy my publishing,” he said per Rolling Stones. “I have the money to buy [back] my publishing. And they told me that I couldn’t buy my publishing… It’s like the control.”
