Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were the topics of conversation during a White House press briefing and Donald Trump praised Kim when addressing the reports about the Republicans trying to help Kanye's election campaign.

US President Donald Trump, 74, partly diverted a question about the Republicans trying to get Kanye West, 43, on the ballot by stacking praise on Kim Kardashian, 39, on August 5. Trump was directly asked about the claims on GOP operatives trying to help Kanye's election bid, during the White House press conference. But Trump denied having any knowledge on that topic as he gushed about the reality TV star saying she has a "good heart."

The New York Times and Vice, both reported on August 4, that Lane Ruhland, a lawyer having ties to Trump's campaign delivered signatures to Wisconsin election officials so that he could get on the ballot. The reports suggested that the Republican activists tried to divert votes, Joe Biden, a Democratic candidate by helping the rapper.

A reporter even raised an issue with Trump during Wednesday's COVID-19 briefing saying that, “at least two people connected to Kanye West’s effort to get on the ballot have been connected to the Republican Party.” The reporter also noted when Kim “has raised issues about whether he’s having mental issues right now.”

Trump denied having any knowledge about it, instead praised the couple. “I like him. He’s always been very nice to me,” the president said about Kanye. And when asked about Trump to have “encouraged, anyone in the party to help him get on the ballot, including in swing states,” Trump again tried to ignore the question. “No, not at all. Other than I get along with him very well. I like him.”

“I like his wife,” Trump added. “His wife recommended certain people – as you know for, including Alice Johnson who’s a remarkable woman – but his wife recommended certain people to get out of prison. They were in prison for a long time, a long, long time. It should have never happened. I took what she said very strong…Kim Kardashian. And she’s got a good heart, very good heart. And I like Kanye very much.”

Trump finally answered the question denying his involvement in any plot supporting Kanye's White House bid. “No, I don’t have anything to do with him getting on the ballot,” he said. “We’ll have to see what happens. We’ll see if he gets on the ballot but I’m not involved.”

HollywoodLife reached out to Lane Ruhland and the Republican Party for enlightening on the allegations made in The New York Times and Vice reports. “There’s no conflict to waive but we have no knowledge of anything Kanye West is doing or who is doing it for him,” Trump's 2020 Communications Director, Tim Murtaugh said. Ruhland has yet to respond.
