Lionel Messi is set to retire from the international football as Argentina are out of World Cup 2018 from Round of 16. 2014 world cup finalist were 4-3 down against mighty France in their round of 16 game which ended their hope of winning the title for first time since 1986.

Lionel Messi led the Oldest Argintine side into the world cup with hattrick against Equador in last qualifying game. This is likely to be the last time we are seeeing Messi on world stage. It may end the international carrrer of Lionel Messi after defeat against french side. After loss in 2014 final they were title favourites this time as well but didn't happened this time as well. There's no any major international trophy in name of messi in his whole carrer.  Messi has tasted Copa America Finals defeat on three ocassions but couldn't win it in his entire career.

In game against France Messi couldn't inspire his team past the french side who are now considered to be the title favourites for this years world cup. Argentina side more fortunate to get this far after opening game draw against Iceland and loss against Croatia. Marcos Rojo late winner against Nigerian side earned this place for them but they couldn't capitalise it. Not onlt Messi's but this defeat may end the Jorge Sampaoi's future in charge of team with his disagreement throughout the world cup.
