The real reason for Selena and The Weeknd were the long time they were part and having a second thoughts for their relationship. The Weeknd is busy all over the world while Selena is busy filming her new movie in New York. These time apart surely played a major role in the breakup and formally The Weeknd decided to move on with their life are they are still young and have more experiences to grow upon.

Whereas, Selena had a different perspective as she just experienced a life-death experience and thinks life is too short so she just wants to move on and enjoy her life further more with loved ones so this might also be the reason she is mending her relationship with Justin Bieber.
